On 3 November Estonian Ambassador to Germany Mart Laanemäe opened the Office of the Estonian Honorary Consul in Frankfurt. Estonian Honorary Consul is Astrid von der Malsburg who has long-standing experience in both public and private sector.
Laanemäe said at the opening ceremony that Estonia might be a small country, but interest in our progress and solutions is great. “Frankfurt is an important financial centre for us. The aim of appointing the Honorary Consul is to support relations between the Land of Hesse and Estonian entrepreneurs, so that it would be economically beneficial for both parties,” Ambassador Mart Laanemäe said.
Astrid von der Malsburg has been the Honorary Consul since August 2016 and her consular region is Hessen. Honorary Consul’s main tasks include providing consular aid to the Estonian citizens and mediating economic and cultural contacts.
At the reception, Estonian cuisine was introduced to the guests that included Governor of the Bank of Estonia Ardo Hansson, State Secretary for European Affairs of the state of Hessen Mark Weinmeister and German Ambassador to Estonia Christoph Eichhorn.
