Office of the Estonian Honorary Consul opened in Šiauliai

On 22 March 2017 Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rainer Saks opened the Estonian Honorary Consulate in Šiauliai. The Estonian Honorary Consul in Šiauliai is Gintaras Sluckus, owner of the successful family business Bigso. The Honorary Consul is interested in helping to strengthen economic relations between Estonia and Lithuania.

Secretary General Saks noted at the opening that appointing Honorary Consul in Šiauliai creates additional opportunities to develop economic relations between Estonia and Lithuania and offer consular assistance in North Lithuania. “The Honorary Consul can help Estonian businesses develop contacts and cooperation with many trade associations active in the region. It will also help to strengthen contacts between Šiauliai and Pärnu, Šiauliai’s sister city,” said Saks.

Gintaras Sluckus has been the Honorary Consul since September 2016 and his consular region consists of the counties of Šiauliai, Panevėžysi and Utena. Honorary Consul’s main tasks include providing consular aid to the Estonian citizens and mediating economic and cultural contacts.
